Darren Elias Wins First GGPoker Super MILLION$ of 2021
By admin | | 0 Comments |

January 07 2021 Matthew Pitt Darren Elias has started 2021 like a house on fire by taking down the first GGPoker Super MILLON$ event of the year. First place in this $10,300 buy-in high stakes spectacular weighed in at an incredible $448,842. Winning almost half a million dollars during the first week of 2021 is obviously fantastic for Elias, but the manner in which he secured this prize is equally as impressive. The final table was ridiculously stacked and any one of the nine finalists would have made a worthy champion. Here’s how Elias got the job done under the watchful eye of the GGPoker YouTube stream. Davies lost a huge pot with pocket sixes versus Aleks Ponakovs’ superior tens to be left with less than seven big blinds and he never recovered. Davies’ final hand took place during the 30,000/60,000/7,500a level. WSOP bracelet winner Enrico Camosci opened to 120,000 on the button with pocket tens and Davies called in the big blind with nine-seven. A queen-jack-eight flop saw both players check, but a ten on the turn gifted Davies a straight. He moved all-in for 247,827 into the 337,500 pot and was called. Camosci filled up on the river courtesy of another jack landing, and Davies was gone. Bert Stevens busted a couple of hands later. Stevens open-shoved for a shade over 13 big blinds from the button with king-queen. Rui Ferreira woke up in the small blind with a pair of jacks in the hole and he three-bet all-in for 2,605,295. Ferreira flopped a set, which held despite Stevens having a straight draw, and the final table was suddenly down to seven players. Marcin Dziubdziela Crowned GGMasters Player of the Year Ponakovs Sent Packing By Camosci Aleksejs Ponakovs Those seven became six with the elimination of Ponakovs. The Estonian was flying high at one stage but his world came crumbling down. Ponakovs’ final hand was a battle of the blinds with Camosci. Camosci limped in from the small blind with trey-deuce of hearts and Ponakovs checked with king-seven of diamonds. Camosci bet small on the ten-four-six flop, a flop with two hearts, and Ponakovs called. The king of hearts turn gave Camosci a small flush and Ponakovs top pair. Camosci led for 254,625 into 339,500 and was called. The river bricked and Camosci over-bet shoved, putting Ponakovs to the test for his 1,332,299 stack. Randy “Nanonoko” Lew commented the move looked like a bluff and that’s how Ponakovs saw it because he called off his stack only to be shown the bad news. Mateos Busts Just Before The Break Adrian Mateos Adrian Mateos crashed out just before the first break of the final table. Camosci min-raised to 140,000 from the cutoff with pocket threes, Ferreira called on the button with ace-king, Niklas Astedt put in calling chip in the small blind with deuces, and Mateos ripped it in for 1,497,707 with pocket tens. Only Ferreira called and soared into the chip lead courtesy of the door card being an ace. Nothing went well for Ferreira after this point as he lost pot after pot. He was down to a mere 3.8 big blinds at the start of his final hand. That micro stack went into the middle from the cutoff with jack-five and Astedt called on the button with ace-jack. Astedt’s hand held and Ferreira went from hero to zero and busted in fifth-place. Camosci’s run ended in a fourth-place finish during the 80,000/160,000/20,000a level. Astedt raised to 400,000 with pocket fives and Camosci called in the big blind with queen-nine. Camosci opted to move all-in for 1,444,667 into the 960,000 pot on the eight-high flop. Unfortunately for Camosci, Astedt had flopped a set and snap-called. Camosci was drawing dead after the turn. GGPoker Launch Daily $30,000 GGCare Flipouts; Bad Luck Has Its Rewards! Superstars Lock Horns Three-Handed Elias, Ami Barer and Astedt were the last three players in the tournament, can you think of a time when such a talented trio locked horns in such a big event? Something had to give eventually and it did when Barer busted in third. Elias sent Barer to the showers. Elias raised slightly more than twice the big blind with 420,000 with ace-queen. Barer, in the big blind, jammed for 19 big blinds with pocket sevens, and Elias beat him into the pot with a call. A queen on the turn sealed the deal for Elias and resigned Barer to a third-place finish. Astedt held a 14,160,341 to 8,039,659 lead over Elias and looked a dead cert to win his first Super MILLION$ event. It wasn’t meant to be, however, as Elias gained the upper hand before sending Astedt home in the runner-up spot. The final hand started with a min-raise to 700,000 from Astedt and a jam for 12,078,400 from Elias. Astedt called and turned over pocket queens, Elias the ace-seven. Again, Elias hit top pair on the turn to win the pot and the tournament. @pokershares @GGPoker @DarrenElias ### thank you https://t.co/A7hg7YkBRP— Max Pescatori 🇮🇹🇺🇸🏴‍☠️ (@maxpescatori) Italian poker pro Max Pescatori was delighted with Elias’ victory but not because he bought a piece of him. Aslan Karatsev of Russia Continues an Unlikely Run at Australian Open
By admin | | 0 Comments |

He is the mystery man who few in the sport had heard of just days ago. But Aslan Karatsev of Russia has landed in the semifinals of the Australian Open.In one of the most unlikely runs in the history of modern tennis, Karatsev on Tuesday became one of the few players to make the final four of a Grand Slam after surviving the qualifying tournament when he beat an ailing Grigor Dimitrov of Bulgaria in four sets 2-6, 6-4, 6-1, 6-2.Karatsev, 27, who was born in Russia, moved to Israel as a child, then returned to Russia as a teenager to pursue better tennis training, according to The Times of Israel. He had been playing in the tennis hinterlands for several years with little success. He had never qualified for a Grand Slam before this tournament. He won three straight matches at the Australian Open qualifying event in Doha to win a spot in the main event and came in ranked No. 114 in the world. He has never been ranked higher than No. 111.Dimitrov appeared to have the match under control after the first set but suffered what looked to be back spasms in the third set and appeared to be on the edge of retiring for the rest of the match.Just four other players have made the semifinals of a Grand Slam after getting through the qualifying event.Ahead of the Australian Open, he played doubles for Team Russia in the ATP Cup, a team event in which players represent their countries. Russia won the competition, but not because of Karatsev, who lost all three matches in which he played with two different partners. His teammates noticed that he was playing as well as they had ever seen, and yet none of them would have predicted anything like this.“We felt like he could do something amazing,” Daniil Medvedev, Russia’s top player and the No. 4 seed in the Australian Open. “To be honest, being in your first Grand Slam main draw? Making quarters is something exceptional. He’s not over yet.”He certainly is not.Karatsev will take on the winner of the match between Novak Djokovic and Alexander Zverev, which is scheduled for Tuesday night.

Jordan announces $10M donation to open health clinics in North Carolina

FILE PHOTO: January 24, 2020 Charlotte Hornets owner Michael Jordan during a pre match press conference on January 24, 2020. REUTERS/Benoit Tessier/File Photo Basketball great Michael Jordan on Monday pledged $10 million to help build two medical clinics for uninsured and underinsured communities in his hometown of Wilmington, North Carolina. The clinics are slated to open in early 2022. Jordan, who grew up and attended high school in Wilmington, had previously donated $7 million to set up family clinics in Charlotte to support vulnerable communities. “I am very proud to once again partner with Novant Health to expand the Family Clinic model to bring better access to critical medical services in my hometown,” Jordan, 57, said in a statement. “Everyone should have access to quality health care, no matter where they live, or whether or not they have insurance. Wilmington holds a special place in my heart and it’s truly gratifying to be able to give back to the community that supported me throughout my life.” In June, Jordan had pledged $100 million over the course of the next decade to organizations dedicated to ensuring racial equality. Jordan, a six-time NBA champion who led the Chicago Bulls’ dynasty in the 1990s, is a Basketball Hall of Famer who owns the Charlotte Hornets. KO Series High Rollers Payout Almost $360K
By admin | | 0 Comments |

KO Series continued on January 6, the official last day of Christmas, and what a day of poker it was. The three High Roller events crowned their champions and dished out $357,950 in total prize money while nine other partypoker players finished top of the pile and can now call themselves a KO Series winner. KO Series #11 – High Roller: $200K Gtd Final Table Results “Mr.Eleven11” was crowned the $1,575 buy-in High Roller champion and victory came with a princely sum. The champion walked away with a combined prize of $44,438, thanks in part to securing seven bounties along the way. “nonothx” was one of those bounties, the tournament’s runner-up. Second-place came in at $22,507 with bounty prizes included. Amazingly, the third-place finisher padded their partypoker bankroll with more money than our runner-up! “jsmackers” was busy sending opponents to the rail, doing so on 11 occasions. This resulted in their $12,070 third-place prize being bolstered by a cool $11,695 worth of bounty payments for a total prize worth $23,765. At the complete opposite end of the spectrum was “GylbertFDI” who managed to finish in fourth place without busting a single opponent! They collected $8,203 for their efforts. Nash Jr. 2” turned their $162 investment into an impressive $14,219 in the Mini High Roller. Some 693-players bought in and created a $103,950 prize pool which I champion helped themselves to the largest slice. The champion was a deserving one having eliminated 13 opponents before claiming his own bounty as you do when you triumph in a PKO. Second-placed “Pablos” fought valiantly and scooped 11 scalps of their own but ultimately had to make do with a bridesmaid finish and with $10,198 in prize money. Place Player Prize Bounties 1 J.F. They battled through a crowd of 2,543 opponents to become the event’s champion. First-place, with bounties included, weighed in at $5,502 which is the equivalent of 333 buy-ins! Wow! That top prize was so chunky because Somethingright defeated “Ricardo_H97” heads-up. The runner-up sent 15 players to the showers so had a large bounty on their head. This went to Somethingright when they came out of the one-on-one battle with all 254.4 million chips in play. GG. Three Ways To Win Your Way Into KO Series Events
By admin | | 0 Comments |

January 07 2021 Matthew Pitt The KO Series is in full swing at partypoker with dozens of players already becoming champions and padding their bankrolls with juicy prizes. There are plenty of big events on the horizon, not least the trio of KO Series Main Events that get underway on January 16. partypoker devised a schedule with a wide range of tournament buy-ins. You can compete from as little as $0.55 and as much as $2,100 with a huge selection of buy-ins between these extremes. If you want to play in some of the higher buy-in events but don’t necessarily have the bankroll for them, we have three routes you can take to satellite into them. KO Series SPINS SPINS are partypoker’s take on jackpot sit & go tournaments. They are three-handed hyper-turbo sit & go games where the prize pool is randomly determined before the first hands are dealt. KO Edition SPINS cost $10 to enter and payout in a winner-takes-all format. You’ll play for a $20 cash prize the majority of the time, but these SPINS award KO Series tickets too. Tickets worth between $33 and $2,100 are possible and plenty of partypoker players have won their way into the KO Series’ bigger buy-in events for only $10 via this method. Tournament Dollar Satellites Head to the “Tourneys” tab and type “tournament dollar” into the search bar to bring up partypoker’s Tournament Dollar satellites. Jordan Clarkson drops 40 to lead the Utah Jazz past the Philadelphia 76ers
By admin | | 0 Comments |

When it was all over, Donovan Mitchell sprinted at Jordan Clarkson, a pair of water bottles in his hand, and doused the Utah Jazz’s sixth man. That was as close as anyone came to cooling down Clarkson on Monday night at Vivint Arena. The Jazz guard torched the nets, scoring 40 points to help his team beat the Philadelphia 76ers 134-123. The Sixers were the best team in the East as of Monday night, but they couldn’t handle the West’s best, as the Jazz (23-5) reeled off their eighth win in a row. “The biggest thing for me is them believing in me,” Clarkson said. “Letting me be myself and embracing me just plays a role in who I am. That gives me confidence. Those guys always come over to the bench and tell me to keep shooting, even when I’m having an off night, even when I’m hot. They’re telling me to shoot the ball no matter what.”   CAN'T COOL HIM OFF!#TakeNote pic.twitter.com/Y1IQYm6Pzy — utahjazz (@utahjazz) February 16, 2021   Donovan Mitchell had 24 points. Joe Ingles scored 20. And three Jazzmen finished with 11 points. Philly’s Ben Simmons had 42 points, 12 rebounds and nine assists in the loss.     Even with All-Star center Joel Embiid getting a late scratch because of a back issue, the Sixers jumped out to an early lead in Salt Lake City. Philly led 24-10 midway through the opening quarter. Behind 19 points and five assists from Simmons, the Sixers shot 72.7 percent from the field and scored 22 points in the paint in the period. “At the beginning of the game, he had too much space in transition,” Jazz head coach Quin Snyder said. “Tonight he attacked the rim early. He felt the game. We had to get back and show him more of a crowd and make it harder for him to see a drive, to deter him.” The hot hands of Clarkson and Georges Niang kept Utah within arm’s reach. Clarkson went 4-for-5 from deep in the first quarter while Niang went 2-for-2. “When Jordan came in with the performance he had, we’ve seen that obviously before—but that was another level,” Snyder said. “I thought he kept us in the game.” The Jazz kept clawing their way back. And when Bogdanovic converted a wild and-one bucket midway through the second, the Jazz had their first lead, a 57-55 advantage. Despite shooting just 2-for-11 from deep in the second, the Jazz took a 72-66 lead into the locker room at halftime. Clarkson had 19 at the break. The Jazz’s sixth man stayed hot in the second half. His 13 points in the third helped the Jazz build their first double-digit lead and take a 106-94 advantage into the final quarter. “He’s not bashful and we don’t want him to be,” Snyder said of Clarkson. Simmons kept the Sixers close, leading an 10-0 charge in the opening minutes of the fourth. But Clarkson and the Jazz would not be deterred en route to their 19th win in the last 20 games, answering with big play after big play.     Clarkson scored eight more points in the fourth, finishing just two points shy of his career high. Royce O’Neale crashed into the scorer’s table during a defensive stand and then sank two clutch 3-pointers. Rudy Gobert denied Dwight Howard at the rim on one end and then rocked his own rim on the other. “Philly played great,” Snyder said. “It took us making some big plays at the end of the game.” Monday’s Best 8 made threes ties a career high for JC #PerformanceLeader | @UofUHealth pic.twitter.com/fYlVA3EClj — utahjazz (@utahjazz) February 16, 2021 | JC is the first player to score 40 points off the bench in under 30 minutes since it was done in 1991 (h/t @statmuse) #NBAAllStar | @jordanclarksons pic.twitter.com/46XZUfx0ob — utahjazz (@utahjazz) February 16, 2021 Up Next The Jazz will hit the road for a pair of games against the L.A. Bally’s Atlantic City casino to close for 38 hours

Between Feb. 16-18, for a technology overhaul B ally’s casino in Atlantic City will temporarily close for 38 hours this week to perform a technology overhaul. The New Jersey Division of Gaming Enforcement told The Associated Press on Thursday that the closure will only affect the casino floor, not the associated hotel. It will start at 8 p.m. EST February 16 and end at 10 a.m. February 18. “We are excited to announce that Bally’s Atlantic City Hotel and Casino will be rolling out a new rewards program beginning February 18, 2021,” said Michael Monty, the casino’s assistant general manager. “The new program will provide greater rewards for Bally’s AC’s loyal players and guests, enhancing their overall gaming experience, while maintaining players’ current tier status.” While Bally’s will continue to honor hotel reservations during the closure, “we understand that these conditions are not ideal for our players and guests. As such, customers are welcome to receive a refund on those days, if requested.” Monty said. Bally’s was sold in November for $25 million from Caesars Entertainment to Rhode Island-based Twin River Worldwide Holdings, which subsequently changed its name to Bally’s Corp. The New Jersey Casino Control Commission in November approved the new owners to operate Bally’s after the company pledged to invest in renovations and repairs to what has become Atlantic City’s poorest-performing casino in terms of revenue. The company has said it intends to spend at least $90 million to renovate hotel rooms, upgrade restaurants, entertainment offerings and its pool and spa, and replace or repair critical infrastructure in the 41-year-old facility. .
